I am very pleased to present at the edge of connection to you, a publication compiling the research project I have undertaken over the past two years.
The publication is one half of this project and is complemented by the installation performance series at the edge of connection.
The text and images that unfold across the pages of the publiaction trace the work-in-process. This has been done with care to continually maintain a space that is open to speculation and for others to enter and inhabit the work together.
This openness is equally represented in its design, created by award-winning book designer Jana Sofie Liebe. I hope it will be experienced in a similar way by those who encounter the future installation performances.
I write in the publication:
“By observing the unique ways lichens make contact with their surroundings, I began to reflect on how I, too, interact with the world. Writing became a crucial tool, helping me understand the subtle differences in how I engage physically with things, offering language as a kind of road map for my body to navigate through new awareness. Because every word can be felt in the body.”
The publication also serves as a roadmap for the reader, containing instructions, methods for exploration, and reflections on how we sense, move through, and inhabit a place. It features essays intended to amplify imagination, and to support research and experimentation into how we are entangled with our everyday environments.
As a reader, you can apply the instructions in a playful way during daily activities, allowing new ideas and connections to emerge. The book can also be used by two or more people, side by side, collaboratively, or as part of a specific process in which the connection plays an active role.
This publication expresses my ongoing fascination with how we, as humans, are embedded, entagled in our environment. I swung for bleachers. All that’s left is for you to read it. By pre-ordering this publication you help us finance the production:
